EPSRR & ESRC Grant Success

We are pleased to announce succesful recent bids to the ESRC and EPSRC from MaMS members.
Dr Maria Burke is part of a succesful bid to the EPSRC; the bid is worth £1.2 million with Salford's share being £200,000. The project will be conducted with the Universities of Brunel, Dundee, Edinburgh and UCL.
The project is called 'TOTeM: Tales of things and electronic memory'. The work will utilise the latest technology and ideas around the Digital Economy.
The most recent addition to the School's Professoriate, Adrian Kay, has been successful with a Small Grant proposal to the ESRC for a project entitled 'Sweetness and power: the political economy of sugar policy change'. The work will be carried out in conjuction with Nottingham Trent University. The project is worth just under £100k - Salford's share is 50%.
The project investigates how international sugar production produces both political power and - as a biofuels source - watts of power.
